A CALL TO RISE

For me, painting is a form of prayer. As I paint these individually, I will be praying for the recipient of the piece, and their peace during this time.

Many religious traditions, including Catholicism, honor the prayer in art. The process of creating art takes on new meaning for me, especially when creating religious pieces. Painting is not only a physical act, but a spiritual experience, a prayer. Often, it becomes spiritual battle. Painting is prayer in a quiet, self-reflecting way. “You need only to be still.” When I paint, I find that feeling of beauty, joy, and peace that many feel in the stillness of prayer.

In Pope John Paul II’s Letter to Artists, he says, “beauty will save the world.” He elaborates,

“Through his “artistic creativity” man appears more than ever “in the image of God”, and he accomplishes this task above all in shaping the wondrous “material” of his own humanity and then exercising creative dominion over the universe which surrounds him.”
I live captivated by the hidden power of sound, words, colors, and shapes.. echoing the mystery of God’s creation. My vocation is to honor the Lord through my work. Now more than ever, we need to surround ourselves with beauty, love, and prayer in order to remain still in the love of Christ.

Another amazing artist, Lauren Daigle, portrays her devotion through music. Her song Dry Bones, speaks to our ability to rise up together in Christ and come alive.

“As we call out to dry bones come alive, come alive
We call out to dead hearts come alive, come alive
Up out of the ashes let us see an army rise
We call out to dry bones, come alive”
During this time, I invite you to join me in prayer, and in coming together to rise in Christ. It is so important to rise up in the Lord, and bring him our weakness. Fear of illness, disease, and death can block the flow of the Lord’s strength to us. When you relate to Christ in confident trust, there is no limit to how much He will strengthen us in our time of need.

SCRIPTURE VERSE AND SYMBOLISM

Praying Hands
Exodus 14:14 “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
As difficult as it is to remain positive in such an uncertain time, the Lord asks us to be still. He asks us to come to him with our worries, our anxieties, and our weakness. Instead of trying to fight your fears, bring them to the Lord and concentrate on trusting Him.

I appreciate your support as a small business owner and local artist in this difficult time. With each piece you will receive:

  • An original hand painted canvas at a fraction of the ordinary cost
  • Sending a prayer to a loved one or someone going through a tough time
  • A handwritten message from the artist to let the recipient know they are loved, thought of and prayed for

MY CAUSE: MISSIONARIES OF CHARITY

I am selling prints and originals of this painting in order to support our local community as COVID-19 surrounds our community. A percentage of the proceeds will go to the sisters at St. Agnes who feed and house the homeless in the Baton Rouge community. This local congregation of Nuns at St. Agnes Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, provide for the needs of the poor and homeless, living a very simple lifestyle without television, radio or items of convenience. They operate entirely on donations, and are more in need than ever. Their apostolate at this time includes a shelter for homeless women and children, a soup kitchen, and a catechism program at St. Agnes.

Your purchase of a painting or print will support these sisters in doing their day-to-day ministry.

We thank you in advance for your prayers, love, and support.
